Sunpro Solar vs. Go Solar Group

Competitor Comparison

Not everyone has the benefit of a friend with an inside look at what each solar company offers. That is why Go Solar Group offers competitor comparisons.

In each of these, we look at what the competitor offers and how it compares to Go Solar Group. We believe that well-informed customers don’t need to be convinced, so let’s see how Sunpro Solar compares.

Why Quality of Solar Products Matters

Because quality products tend to last longer, they often cost more. It’s important when comparing solar companies that product quality is a consideration.

Solar arrays are relatively stationary compared to other kinds of technology, which means they last longer and have fewer maintenance needs despite placement outside the home. However, investing in high-end solar products means that the solar array is going to produce more for longer with even fewer issues.

While cheaper products cost less now, they cost more long-term in frustration and maintenance. There is a suite of solar products to consider with each solar company. However, the three main components to compare are solar panels, inverters, and battery backup.

A Comparison of Solar Panels

There are a variety of solar panel types on the market. Currently, monocrystalline solar panels provide the most power per square foot. When comparing solar panels, look at the wattage for the solar panel and the average size to determine the space needed for the array.

Sunpro Solar’s Preferred Solar Panel Brand

Sunpro’s preferred solar panels are the LG NeON 2 and the LG NeON R solar panels. These are high-quality solar panels that range from 320 to 365 watts per solar panel and are about 5ft by 3ft.

Go Solar Group’s Preferred and Premium Solar Panels

Go Solar Group’s preferred solar panel is the Axitec 315 watt AXIblackpremium half-cell solar panel. These 60-cell monocrystalline solar panels are about 5 ft by 3ft. Premium solar panels from LG, Solaria, and Silfab are also available.

Difference Between Inverters

The inverter transduces the direct current of the sun’s rays into an alternating current, making the energy garnered from the sun usable within the home. The more efficient your inverter, the more efficient your solar panels’ production.

There are three main inverter types on the market right now. These include string inverters, microinverters, and optimized string inverters. Which one to use depends on the customer’s available unshaded space on their roofs and budget.

Sunpro and the Enphase Inverter

Enphase is a micro inverter, which means there is an inverter on the back of each solar panel. These inverters are great for solar arrays that experience partial shade but can be difficult to maintain and are frequently expensive.

Go Solar Group and the SolarEdge Inverter

The SolarEdge is an optimized string inverter. It uses DC power optimizers to boost power from each solar panel to help mitigate partial shading issues and enhance module monitoring capabilities of the string inverter.

Understanding the Importance of Battery Backup

While solar homes can produce power when the sun is shining, they don’t store excess solar for when the sun is down. Having some form of energy storage is important for solar homes because it allows them to store and use excess solar energy for use during an outage or in the evening.

There is a wide range of energy storage options. However, lithium-ion batteries provide the most power per unit of space, which is important for residential storage solutions.

Sunpro Battery Backup Options

Sunpro uses the OutBack EnergyCell line of batteries. This line of batteries includes flooded deep-cycle lead-acid batteries (FLA), high-capacity lead-carbon batteries (XLC), valve-regulated lead-acid batteries (VRLA), and Pure Lead Runtime Batteries (PLR).

Go Solar Group Battery Backup Levels

Go Solar Group has three levels of battery backup, so customers have the option of storing between 1.4 and 5 kilowatts of power per battery. The first level gives the option between two Goal Zero lithium-ion batteries. The second level allows customers to purchase a combination of Goal Zero lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries, and the third level is Tesla’s lithium-ion home battery, also known as the Powerwall.

Paying Solar Forward

While offering quality solar at a competitive price is the main goal for most solar companies, Go Solar Group has an additional goal to make a positive impact. One way we strive to make a positive impact is through our revolving microloan program

Through this program and the help of the non-profit 1heart1mind, Go Solar Group provides revolving micro-loans to Ugandan communities. These loans allow these individuals to afford solar lights, so they don’t have to rely on kerosene oil, which is bad for their health and expensive for them to run.

What makes this program special is that a portion of each solar array sold goes toward these microloans. Together we pay solar forward to the Ugandan community.

Financing and the Cost of Solar

The financing option that customers choose makes a big difference on their return. Solar companies typically offer cash, lease, and loan financing options. Go Solar Group only offers cash and loan financing because we believe these two options provide the highest return and benefit to the customer.

There are many reasons why solar loans are a better option than leasing. One of the big reasons is that a leased array, whether it is through a lease or a power purchase agreement (PPA), gives ownership of the array to the solar company, which makes it difficult for customers to move and deprives them of solar tax credit benefits.

While cash is the best option, not everyone can afford to pay for solar in cash, which is why solar loans are such a great solution. If you qualify for our program, these loans are zero down and replace the power bill, so the homeowner doesn’t feel any financial burden while reaping the benefits of owning their solar power.
